Oakdale picks up wins over Manteca, Sierra

Oakdale visited Manteca Park Golf Course on Thursday and tallied two Valley Oak League wins in one shot. 

David Myrtakis, Greg Wikoff and Zackary Tamburino shared medalist honors with 6-over 43s, and they led the Mustangs to a 220-263 victory over Sierra and 220-279 over Manteca. The two co-hosts’ scores did not factor against each other.

Calvin Reed and Tristan Jaramillo chipped in a 44 and 47, respectively, for the Mustangs (3-1, 6-1 overall. The team had the five best scores of the day.

Leading Sierra (2-1) were Damian Simon and Dillon St. Claire, who each carded a 50. Evan Brazell added a 53, David Ketner a 54 and Jackie Thai a 56.

Ray Gallardo paced Manteca (0-2) with a 52. Dylan Haro and Alex Armendariz followed with a 53 and 54. Ruben Hurtado (59) and Johnny White (61) finished out scoring for the Buffaloes.

TRACY — Christian Guzman finished even with a 36 at Old River Golf Course but only gets a point in the VOL individual standings to show for it. A double bogey hole cost him a low-medalist round.

Matt Robinson and Michael Kelly produced 35s for powerhouse Central Catholic, which had two others finish with 36s. Lathrop, meanwhile, recorded its lowest score of the season with Robby Horrocks (50), Robert Berndt (52), Andrew Lorentz (58) and Curtis Kimbro (61) also contributing.

The Indians (2-1, 4-1 overall) ended their strong week Thursday at Modesto Municipal Golf Course, where Connor Larkin finished 5-over 40 to lead the way.

Justin Brito, Rhet Herrin and Luis Candido each turned in a 43, with Trent Hawes not too far behind with a 44.
