RIPON — Ripon and Ripon Christian finished in the bottom two of the Valley Foothill League — North Division Tournament at Spring Creek Country Club Monday, but both schools will be represented at next week’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division V Tournament.

Ripon Christian’s Rebekah Sipma finished fourth overall and led three area qualifiers with a 105 score at the par-73 course.

Ripon has two section qualifiers — Haylee Fannin and Sam Conway, who finished with a 115 and 125, respectively.

Escalon won the league championship easily with a 413, 33 strokes better than second-place Bret Harte. Calaveras edged out Linden 494-499 to take the third team section berth. The top six individuals that are not a part of qualifying teams also advance.

Escalon’s Presli Pitali was the only player to finish under the century mark, and her 14-over 73 was impressive considering the damp conditions.

Ripon ended up sixth in the team standings with a 505. Also contributing for the Indians were Kara Hippert with a 125, Karen Fredriks with a 140 and Mylene Franco with a 143.

Ripon Christian rounded out the tournament with a 517.

The Division V tournament will be next Tuesday at Stevinson Ranch Golf Course.
