Two Ripon swimmers qualify for section

The Ripon High boys and girls swim teams opened the season last week against Kimball and Oakdale, respectively.

Some of the results are as followed:

Boys

Kimball 96, Ripon 68

Among the bright spots for the Indians in the early season loss included Ty Wells achieving Sac-Joaquin Section qualifying times in the 200 meter freestyle (1 minute, 55.68 seconds) and 500 freestyle (4:59.21) and Daniel Esenwein doing likewise in the 100 butterfly (56.76) and 100 backstroke (59.20).

The two also took first place in their respective events.

Kole Gonzalez captured the 100 freestyle (51.49).

Ripon d. Oakdale

Daniel Esenwein and Wells continued with their winning ways.

Esenwein took the 100 butterfly (59.63) and 100 backstroke (1:04.68). Wells claimed the 500 freestyle (5:05.67) and the 200 freestyle (2:01.71).

Noah Esenwein and Diego Moreno went one and two in the 100 breast stroke and placed a respective second and third in the 200 individual medley race.

Kole Gonzalez was first in the 50 freestyle (23.77) and teamed up with Daniel and Noah Esenwein and Wells to place first in the 200 medley relay (1L46.80).

Girls

Ripon d. Kimball

Mallory Brubaker set a qualifying section time in the 200 freestyle (2:02.75), finishing just ahead of teammate Chloe Winter to take first in this event.

Hannah Sweet also achieved section-qualifying times in both the 200 individual medley (2:16.75) and the 100 breast stroke (1:10.29).

The Indians, in addition, took first place in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays,

Ripon d. Oakdale

Ripon improved to 2-0 in the early season by claiming first in every event against the Mustangs.

Elizabeth Wenner finished ahead of the field in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle events while Brubaker did much of the same in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle races.

Sweet claimed the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly, Andria Martin won the 100 backstroke, and Kyra Foley captured the 100 breaststroke, to help keep Ripon at a perfect 2-0 mark thus far in the season.
