Sierra High was able to remain unblemished in Valley Oak League action, fending off a stubborn Oakdale High squad with a 53-45 win at home.

Sierra (3-0, 12-2 overall) was led by two players in double figures, with Will Ward and Justin Patton both sharing team-high scoring honors with 11 points. Eric Melgar chipped in the victory with nine.

The Timberwolves will make their second road-trip of the VOL season when they head to Tracy to meet up with the Kimball Jaguars. Kimball is coming off the heels of a lopsided defeat administered by the East Union Lancers.

Weston Ranch 55, Sonora 51

Andre Beard led the way for Weston Ranch with 15 points. Beard also pulled down six rebounds and dished out three assists in the win. Teammate Will Cavil also finished in double figures with 12 and Dylan Alexander finished with 10.

The victory was much needed for the Cougars (2-1, 9-5) who dropped their last league game 42-40 to Manteca High.

The Cougars will get another stern test Friday when they roll out the welcome mats for former Weston Ranch head basketball coach Bill Slikker and his Lathrop Spartans.
