Alysia Atkins poured in 12 of her game-high 14 points to help Sierra High’s girls basketball team coast past Bret Harte 45-20 in Lodi Tournament action Friday.
The Timberwolves (2-2) will meet Buhach Colony of Merced today at 11:30 a.m. for the consolation championship.
Sierra broke open a 16-5 lead in the first quarter and continued to surge with a 15-2 spurt in the second.
Jordan Johnson added eight points for Sierra.
The tournament’s two-time defending champion was able to counter McNair’s tremendous size with its own interior toughness but was ultimately outgunned.
After going down 21-9 in the first quarter, the Cougars scored eight unanswered points to begin the second. But McNair brushed aside the run and ending up leading 46-22 at halftime.
“We did our best to screen out and keep tempo with them,” Weston Ranch coach Chris Bauer said. “We didn’t make that many mistakes (14 turnovers); we just couldn’t recover every time they’d take their game up another level.”
Weston Ranch will play for third place at 1:30 p.m. today against Merced.
Mikaela Alger churned out 16 points to go with 13 rebounds and four assists. Hayleigh Colyn added seven points, five rebounds and three assists.
