T’wolves fend off Modesto Raiders

The Manteca Junior Timberwolves varsity defeated the Modesto Raiders 24-8 Saturday in Central Valley Youth Football and Cheer action.

Tommy Perea (20 carries, 80 yards) scored on 2- and 10-yard runs for Manteca. Jordan Serbousek (5 for 6 passing, 118 yards; nine carries, 78 yards) added a touchdown pass of 70 yards to Izaias White(two receptions, 100 yards).

Fernando Alaniz led the Jr. Timberwolves with nine tackles. Vincent Torres (interception), Perea and Serbousek added six stops each, Anthony Garcia (interception) four and Harley Hensley and Jose Jimenez three apiece.

 

Lathrop Jr. Spartans 32, Lodi Titans 16

Teagan Shevlin had a pair of touchdown passes and a scoop and score for the Jr. Spartans.

Shevlin (160 yards passing) had a pair of touchdown passes to Ryan Buccat (two receptions, 120 yards) and after causing it he returned a fumble 50 yards for a touchdown. Isaiah White had a 50-yard touchdown run and Anthony Rowe added a rushing touchdown. David Villavicencio had 40 yards rushing.

Rowe scampered 60 yards with a fumble recovery with Villavicencio and Samuel Avila each making an interception. 

 

Junior Varsity

Jr. Timberwolves 14, Raiders 6

Gage Pfeifer scored on a 50-yard run for the Jr. Timberwolves.

Pfeifer (84 yards rushing) had seven carries for 84 yards and Preston Smith completed two of five passes for 46 yards to Ivan Huerta (two carries, 16 yards), one of which was good for a touchdown. Juju Moncada added 57 yards on seven carries and Luis Rosas picked up 33 ayrds on three carries.

Noah Navarro (fumble recovery), Huerta (forced fumble), Niko Ellks and Luis Rosas Jr. had seven stops apiece for the Jr. Timberwolves. Isiah Alcocer added five tackles and Xavier Flores three.

 

Lodi Colts 30, 

Manteca Cowboys 0

The Colts scored in every quarter.

Manteca’s Quinn Martinez had eight carries for 84 yards and Santana Stevenson picked up 52 yards on two receptions.  Blake Mount (eight carries, 37 yards; two receptions, 22 yards);  Dylan Stonum (five carries, 32 yards; one reception, 12 yards); Izik Quezada (five carries, 35 yards) and Julian Perez (four carries, 18 yards)  

Jaden Gallego led the Cowboys defense with 10 tackles followed by Jeremy Ap’e and Gavin Goodwin with nine each; Isaac Alvarez, Anthony Morales, Blake Mount, Brandyn Sena and Izik Quezada with eight apiece; Dylan Stonum, Santana Stevenson and Christopher Gallego all with six; five each for Quinn Martinez, Robbie Espinosa and Julian Perez; Ritchie Garnica with four and three apiece for Joshua Reyes and Landon Butler.


Rookies

Raiders 12, 

Jr. Timberwolves 7 

The Jr. Timberwolves did themselves in with 15 penalties and a big fourth-quarter fumble with the lead in their own territory. 

But Manteca made one more charge only to have a go-ahead pass from Brody Carabello to Madden Melendez on fourth-down with a minute remaining in the game get tipped away.

Albert Menchaca (12 carries 115 yards ) gave the Jr. Timberwolves an early lead with a 21-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Melendez added 104 yards on 10 carries.

 Brody Carabello, Eric Vaquera, Leiland Riggelman and Gilbert Luiz made 6 tackles a piece for Manteca.   Tino Torres added five stops with Menchaca and Kendall Sweet-Mallory making four tackles each. Andrew Salmeron made an interception.

Cowboys 38, 

Lodi Colts 0

Nico Juarez picked up 158 yards on just four carries for Manteca with three touchdowns.

Juarez scored on runs of 33, 36 and 86 yards and was 4 for 5 on conversion kicks. Ricky Soria had a 43-yard touchdown run and Elias Lopez added a 23-yard touchdown run. 

Juarez, Julian Ramirez, Devin Downey, Cayden Soliz and Kyler Cayode all had four tackles apiece and Jonathan Constance recovered a fumble.

 

Starts

Cowboys 35, Colts 0 

Manteca’s Bryant Lewis and Terrence Montgomery both had two carries for 103 yards with Lewis netting two touchdowns and Montgomery one. 

Isaac Estrada added 32 yards on four carries with a touchdown. 

Montgomery (nine tackles) added a defensive touchdown with a strip sack for a touchdown. Jonathan Morales made 13 tackles and Estrada six.

 

Raiders 31, 

Jr. Timberwolves 0

Noah Bocanegra, Rudy Torrez and Jordan Rossi led the Manteca offense.

Jayce Haskell posted 11 tackles for the Jr. Timberwolves. Rudy Torrez added four stops with  Manoah Ellis, Navi Murillo and Santino Sanchez each adding three tackles.
