T’wolves take soccer twinbill at RC

Sierra’s soccer teams made the short jaunt to Ripon Christian for a doubleheader Monday, winning both. 

Jocelin Roa and Tiana Cello starred in the Timberwolves’ 9-0 onslaught in the girls match, while the boys sneaked away with a 3-1 win thanks to a pair of second-half goals. 

Roa registered her fourth hat trick of the season with three goals and an assist for the Sierra girls, who improved to 5-0-1 in the Valley Oak League and 7-0-1 overall. The San Jose State-bound Cello added two goals and one assist. 

Jenna Villanueva, Lela Schuler, Melanie Nguyen and Presley Perez each contributed a goal. Preeya Singh, Annika Rose and Annika Beall each had an assist. Beall also had two saves at goal and was relieved by Nicole Martin (save).  Sierra had a 32-3 shot advantage.

In the boys game, Diego Lopez provided the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute and was followed by Anthony Napoles’ unassisted tally in the 77th. 

Adrian Ramirez initially put the Timberwolves (4-3-1) ahead in the sixth minute while assisted by A.J. Ramirez later set up Lopez’s winner. Ripon Christian netted its lone goal in the 15th minute.


GIRLS SOCCER

Manteca 4, Ripon 1

Caitlyn Wong accounted for both of Manteca’s insurance goals. Emily Murphy and Mia Watson scored the first two. Alexia Alva and Sienna Jones each contributed an assist. Willow Stearns came up with three saves.

Ariana Scholten, who recently signed with San Diego State, scored for Ripon. Jaden Vivit had 10 saves.


East Union 3, Oakdale 0

Tallon Cervantez played a role in every goal scored, netting two of them while assisting the other to Hailey Sims. Celeste Guerrero and Sims each had an assist.

Kylie Mendez came up with six stops in the shutout.


JV GIRLS

Manteca 9, Ripon 2

The visiting Buffaloes got a hat trick from Jacquelyn Gonzalez and braces from Emalyne Lundbom and Gailea Sanchez. Jocelyn Gonzalez and Cassandra Soza scored one apiece. 


East Union 4, Oakdale 0

Cassidy Pearson, Ashley Vasquez, Evanna Cuellar and Tiffanie Barnett each found the net once for the balanced Lancers attack. 

Madelynn Miske kept the sheet clean with help from defenders Kaylee Hutzler and Linda Medrano. 


Sierra 12, Oakdale 1

It was all Timberwolves last Friday at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

Lindsey Rose had her way with the defense, amassing four goals and two assists. Presley Perez pitched in two goals and three assists.

Maya Murillo and Jenni Nassayan (assist) both scored twice. Lanai Martinez and Kaila Ward added one goal each.
