VOLLEYBALL: Buffs sweep Sierra ahead of match with 1st-place CC

Manteca completed a season sweep of rival Sierra on Tuesday, winning 25-19, 25-12, 25-17 while getting contributions from every available player.
Kaylee MacDannald produced five kills, five blocks and 10 service points for the visiting Buffaloes (6-2, 10-4 overall), who host Valley Oak League leader Central Catholic on Thursday. The Buffs remain a match back of Kimball for second place.  Kimball knocked off Oakdale in five sets Tuesday.
Karlie Spohn also did damage in limited time against Sierra (1-7, 5-8), finishing with five kills and six blocks. Therese Ferral divvied out 13 assists, and Abbey Kadillak came up with 11 digs.
The Timberwolves were headed by Natalie Dias’ six kills and three blocks, Stella Brierly’s four kills and Becca Thomson’s 15 assists. They take on visiting Weston Ranch on Thursday.

East Union 3, Weston Ranch 0
STOCKTON — East Union (4-5 VOL, 9-6 overall) coasted, 25-6, 25-7, 25-22.
Savannah LeBarre led the Lancers with nine kills, three digs and four aces. Dani James compiled 14 assists, two aces and six digs. Alejandra Rodriguez pitched in two kills, three digs and an ace.

Ripon Christian 3, Denair 0
DENAIR — The Knights (9-0, 14-3) continued their dominance in the Southern Athletic League, crushing the Coyotes, 25-9, 25-10, 25-12.
Alexis Hilvers (two blocks), Morgan Van Elderen and Emily Van Groningen each registered six kills and four aces. Rebecca Postmus also served four aces, and Arial Vander Woude handed out 23 assists.

Manteca 2, Sierra 1

Manteca (8-0, 18-0) held on to win 15-25, 25-9, 15-8 and remain undefeated for the season.
Arielle Chandler spearheaded the attack with 14 assists and five kills. Isabella Pires added eight assists while Courtney Washburn swatted eight kills. Leilani Rios contributed 14 service points and four aces.
