VOLLEYBALL: Ripon Christian nears SL co-championship

RIPON — Ripon Christian will look to lock up a share of the Southern League title on senior night Thursday against reigning champion Orestimba.
The Knights started the final week of the regular season with a 25-7, 25-16, 25-18 sweep of Delhi on Tuesday.
Mackenzie Miller fired nine kills, three aces and three digs for Ripon Christian (12-1, 18-10), which is tied with Le Grand for the lead. The Knights swept Le Grand last week to avenge their only league loss. They are within reach of their seventh SL crown in the last eight years.
Emily Van Groningen contributed a team-high 10 kills, and Taylor Anema had six. Renae Heida chipped in four aces and three digs. Grace Van Vliet collected six digs, while Taylor Alger (15 assists) and Morgan Van Elderen (10 assists) shared setting duties.

Ripon 3, Hughson 1
HUGHSON — The Indians (9-2, 19-8) secured second place in the Trans-Valley League after knocking off Hughson (4-8, 9-14) on Monday, 25-14, 25-17, 21-25, 25-11.
Mia Van Lewen anchored Ripon with 12 kills and six aces. Jordynn Russell also served six aces. Rachel Sausedo set 20 assists, and Sydney Thomason racked up four blocks.

Central Catholic 3, Sierra 0
Central Catholic clinched the outright Valley Oak League championship on Tuesday, and the Raiders (11-0, 29-8) got it done at first-year coach Michelle Springmeyer’s alma mater. They swept Sierra, 25-11, 25-8, 25-22.
Tessa Gallo amassed 12 aces for Central. Abby Castillon rapped 10 kills, and McKenzie Lettice dished out 19 assists.
Sierra (1-10, 4-13) ends the season Thursday against visiting Oakdale.
