RIPON — Ripon High dropped to 2-2 in Trans Valley League play with a 48-30 loss to Waterford Tuesday night.

Junior Yciano (215 pounds) collected a pin at the 1-minute, 34-second mark of the first period, and Matt Baker (HVY) picked up a win by way of forfeit.

Seniors Daniel Linder (125) and Ryan Mackey (171) both collected pins.

Linder needed 3:22 seconds to collect his fall, and Mackey needed 1:23.

Christian Spence (189) claimed a second-round fall, as well.

“I’ve said it before, we have a young team,” Ripon head coach Glen White said. “It’s tough when you’re wrestling guys that are older and have more experience.”

White was impressed with Linder’s night.

“Linder wrestled well,” White said. “He had a nice throw in the second period. We’re glad to have him back.”

Mackey wrestled at 171 for the first time this season last weekend at Huntington Beach’s Five Counties Tournament.

Ripon travels to Foothill High Friday and Saturday for the Tim Brown Memorial Invitational.
