Sierra’s Randy Euly (152 pounds) and Raymond Martin (167) finished second Saturday at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III boys wrestling championships at Placer High in Auburn. The Timberwolves finished fourth as a team with 169.5 points.
The top eight finishers advance to the two-day SJS Boys and Girls Masters Championships beginning Friday at Adventist Health Arena and joining Euly and Martin will be teammates Adan Rosas (fourth, 177), Samuel Perez (fourth, 146), Luis Gonzalez (sixth, 122), Jacob Soares (sixth, 217), James Morimoto (seventh, 108) and Christian Anaya (seventh, 159).
Manteca advanced two wrestlers – Luis Rosas (fourth, 152) and Ryder Vasquez (seventh, 217) with Luis Rosas (seventh, 217) advancing for East Union.
Division IV
Lathrop’s Damion Ceja-Ramirez (fourth, 150) and Casyn Hopping (fourth, 215) advance to the Masters in the competition at Hiram Johnson High in Sacramento.
Division V
Ripon’s Ace Dougherty (138) and Jacob Hughes (215) placed second Saturday at Calaveras High in San Andreas and will lead a contingent of six Indians teammates to the Masters. Ripon finished fourth with 145 points.
David Banales (third, 120) and Gurnoor Singh (fourth, 113 pounds) earned outright finals berths with Austin Barros (132) and Joaquin Rodriguez (285) placing fifth and advancing as alternates.
Central Regional Girls
Manteca’s High’s Liliana Rios (235) took just 35 seconds for a championship pin at Tokay High in Lodi.
The top eight finishers advance to the Masters championships with Buffaloes teammates Mandy Martinez (fourth, 170), Ashley Arzate (seventh, 140), Alisha James (eighth, 110) and Susan Joseph (eighth, 125) joining Rios.
Sierra’s Valeria Galvan (190) finished second and teammate Ashley De Bellen (120) was seventh.
South Regional Girls
Lathrop’s Kiana Quintero (120) finished second and Ripon’s Shaylin Potter (155) was third at Central Valley High in Ceres.
Indians Jeevika Chaudhary (fifth, 170), Amaya Watkins (sixth, 190) and Trinity Diaz (seventh, 110) advanced to Masters as will Spartans Laila Hill (third, 235) and Timothea Maycon (sixth, 105).
