Sierra’s Alyanna Loaiza placed second Saturday in the Sac-Joaquin Section Girls Southern Regionals at Central Valley High School in Ceres.
Loaiza (123) tallied quarterfinal and semifinal pins before forfeiting the championship match.
Manteca’s Mackenzie Sandoval (235) posted three pins on her way to a third-place finish. Sierra’s Prabhnoor Dhillon (103) finished fourth with teammates Stefany Perez (108) finishing sixth, Alina Dizon (113) sixth and Valeria Galvan (191) eighth. Lathrop’s Kiana Quintero (126) finished eighth.
The top-eight finishers will compete Friday in the two-day SJS Masters Championships at the
Stockton Arena.
Division V boys
Ripon’s Liam Ferris finished second Saturday at Hughson High School.
Ferris (285) picked up where he left off Friday, notching two more first-round pins to advance to the finals against Jesus Gutierrez of Sutter. Gutierrez posted a pin at the end of the first period for the gold medal.
Ferris will be joined by teammate Joaquin Rodriguez (220, fourth) in the SJS Masters Championships.
