OAKDALE — For anyone that hasn’t experienced courses like the ones offered at Oakdale and Sonora, the learning curve is steep.

Friday at Oakdale Country Club, four East Union golfers got their first taste of the Mustangs’ home turf and Oakdale took advantage, winning 228-242.

Kyle Harman led the way once again, this time shooting a 39 for medalist honors.

“After not having one of his best performances (Thursday), Kyle came back on really fast greens and performed well,” EU head coach Dennis Wells said.

Tanner Bragg wasn’t too far behind, finishing with a 47, and Jordan Duval shot a solid 49.

Guillermo Barajas finished with a 51, Ryan Plum a 56, and Evan Lewis turned in the throw-out, a 66.

Austin Wentworth paced the Mustangs with a 42, and Kyle Derby had a 43.

Michael Tripp and Garret Marion both shot 46, and Conner Gust carded a 51.

“It’s tough to start in Oakdale and Sonora for guys that haven’t played matches,” Wells said. “We’re trying our hardest to win everything this year, of course, but this will also be good experience for next year.”
