MODESTO (AP) -- Logan Taylor had four hits and two RBI, and Anthony Misiewicz allowed just one hit over five innings as the Modesto Nuts topped the Lancaster JetHawks 8-0 on Thursday.

Misiewicz struck out seven and walked one.

In the bottom of the sixth, Modesto broke a scoreless tie on a two-run double by Donnie Walton and an RBI single by Daniel Torres. The Nuts then added three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth. In the seventh, Joey Curletta scored on a wild pitch, while Taylor hit a two-run triple in the eighth.

Matthew Festa (1-0) got the win with three innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Lancaster starter Peter Lambert (0-2) took the loss in the California League game.

Modesto took advantage of some erratic Lancaster pitching, drawing a season-high nine walks in its victory.

The JetHawks were held off the scoreboard for the first time this season, while the Nuts’ staff recorded their second shutout of the year.
