Manteca Unified Student Trust is hosting a team basketball clinic on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Manteca High’s Winter Gymnasium.

Registration for the girls clinic begins at 8:30 a.m., and the clinic ends at 11. The boys will register at noon, with the clinic running from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Cost is $10 per athlete (cash only). A minimum of five players and head coach per team are recommended.

SOCCER

NCSA: The Northern California Soccer Academy is holding tryouts for seven age divisions at Riverbank Sports Complex Jan. 2 and 3.

On Jan. 2, tryouts for under-11  and under-12 girls will run from noon to 2 p.m. Under-10, 11 and 12 boys tryouts will follow from 2-4.

The under-13 girls and under-14 boys tryouts will run the following day from 1- 3 p.m.

There is no cost to try out. All players are required to come prepared with a ball, shinguards and water. Parents or guardians will be required to sign a standard medical release before tryouts.

SOFTBALL

MYSA: The Manteca Youth Softball Association is holding registration for girls ages 4-14 on Jan. 2 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and Jan. 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Round Table Pizza.

Cost for registration are as follows: $60 for T-Ball, $80 for 8-14 divisions, $75 for the second child from the same family, and $70 for the third.

New players must bring birth certificates.

ODYSSEY: The California Odyssey 16-under team is holding tryouts for the summer season on Jan. 3 and 10 from 11 a.m.-2p.m. at Sierra High. All positions are open.

BASEBALL

LATHROP: Lathrop Little League resumes registration on Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. - 1p.m. at Savemart.

Additional signup dates are Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 5-8 p.m., Dec. 19 from 9 a.m.- 1p.m. and Jan. 9 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

NORTHGATE: Northgate Little League will resume signups for regular registration on Dec. 19 from noon-3 p.m. at Mountain Mike’s Pizza in Manteca and Jan. 9 from 1-4 p.m. back at Mountain Mike’s.

Late registration dates are on Jan. 16 and 23 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Northgate Little League’s baseball fields behind Neil Hafley School.

MANTECA LL: Manteca Little League has its registration dates set up for the 2010 season.

Registrations will be held at Straw Hat Pizza from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 10, Dec. 12, Jan. 14, Jan. 16 and Jan. 28.

Registration fee is $100. Proof of birth and residence are required for all players to sign up.

Players ages 5-14 are invited to play, with divisions available at the T-Ball (5-6), Farm (7-8), Minor (9-10), Major (11-12) and Junior (13-14) levels. The season starts with practices in February, and Opening Day is March 13.

Manteca Little League is open to players in Manteca who live east of Main Street. Players from Ripon and Escalon are also welcome.

SPRECKELS: Signups continue for Spreckels Park Little League Saturday, Dec. 12 during the organization’s pancake breakfast at Brock Elliott School from 7-11 a.m.

Early registration fees are $130 for Junior division players, $110 for Major and Minor, and $75 for T-ball and Farm. Proof of residence and birth certificates are required for all players to sign up.

After Dec. 31, fees will go up to $125 for Major and Minor, and $90 for T-ball and Farm.

COACHES FORUM: Rainbow Fields will be hosting a free coaches forum for all youth coaches and parents.

Big League Dreams Sports Park in Manteca is taking registrations for its upcoming adult kickball leagues.

STORM: The Tracy Storm traveling 13-under Amateur Athletic Union squad is looking for experienced players to add to its roster for the 2009-10 season, which begins in September.

The Storm is a competitive team that travels to tournaments around Northern California. Fundamentals and preparation for high school ball are stressed. Players must be between the 6th and 8th grades.
