VISALIA (AP) — Bryson Brigman had four hits, while Kevin Santa and Joe Rizzo had four and three, respectively, as the Modesto Nuts defeated the Visalia Rawhide 8-6 on Wednesday.

Visalia had a runner on first in the bottom of the ninth, but Camden Duzenack grounded out to end the game.

Brigman singled four times, driving in three runs. Santa singled four times, scoring two runs.

Down 3-1 in the fourth, Visalia cut into the lead when Drew Ellis hit a solo home run.

Modesto answered in the next half-inning when Aaron Stroosma hit an RBI single, scoring Rizzo.

The Nuts later tacked on four runs in the seventh, including a two-run single by Brigman.

Visalia saw its comeback attempt come up short after Stephen Smith scored on an error in the ninth inning to cut the Modesto lead to 8-6.

Modesto right-hander Randy Bell (3-4) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on six hits over six innings. Opposing starter Connor Grey (5-4) took the loss in the California League game after giving up four runs and 11 hits over 4 1/3 innings.
