DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Last month, Richie Incognito said severe repercussions would be warranted if the Miami Dolphins kept allowing sacks at such an alarming rate.
“Everybody should be fired,” he said.
Nobody in Miami is talking about sacks anymore. Firings remain a distinct possibility for very different reasons.
The Dolphins’ harassment scandal is threatening the season and job security, leaving the future of coach Joe Philbin, his assistants and general manager Jeff Ireland in doubt.
Tackle Jonathan Martin alleges he was harassed daily by teammates, including Incognito, who has been suspended. While Martin is scheduled to meet with an NFL special investigator late this week, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has formed two committees to study the team’s locker room culture.

Kyle Williams lands with unbeaten Chiefs
SANTA CLARA (AP) — It took about 24 hours for Kyle Williams to find a new job.
The wide receiver and return man was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday, one day after his release from the San Francisco 49ers.
Williams’ agent, Wynn Silberman, said Williams would fly to Kansas City later Wednesday to join his new team and be reunited with former San Francisco teammate quarterback Alex Smith, who has led a turnaround for the franchise under coach Andy Reid.

Former NFL WR Hurd gets 15 years in drug case
DALLAS (AP) — Former NFL wide receiver Sam Hurd was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison for his role in starting a drug-distribution scheme while playing for the Chicago Bears, completing a steep downfall that ended his football career and left his future in tatters.
Hurd, 28, received the punishment in a federal courtroom in Dallas after pleading guilty in April to one count of trying to buy and distribute large amounts of cocaine and marijuana. The charge carried a minimum 10-year sentence and a maximum of life.

Peyton Manning missing from practice
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The numbers keep piling up and so do the wins.
Still, for anyone watching closely, it’s hard to fight the feeling that something’s not quite right with Peyton Manning.
The feeling snuck up again Wednesday.
With the undefeated Chiefs next on the schedule, Manning sat out of the week’s first practice to give his tender ankles — which make him feel like the James Caan character in the movie “Misery,” as Jim Nantz recounted Manning telling him — a bit of a rest.
