Filia, Walton lift Modesto over Lake Elsinore

MODESTO (AP) — Eric Filia homered, doubled and singled twice as the Modesto Nuts beat the Lake Elsinore Storm 4-2 on Tuesday.
Donnie Walton reached base four times for Modesto.
Modesto started the scoring in the first inning when Filia hit a solo home run and Walton hit an RBI single.
After Modesto added a run in the third on a single by Joe DeCarlo, the Storm cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Peter Van Gansen hit a sacrifice fly and Carlos Belen hit a solo home run.
The Nuts tacked on another run in the seventh when Luis Liberato hit an RBI single, driving in Joey Curletta.
Lake Elsinore missed a scoring opportunity in the seventh, when Fernando Perez hit into a forceout with the bases loaded to end the inning.
Modesto right-hander Tyler Jackson (2-2) picked up the win after allowing two runs on six hits over five innings. Opposing starter Jesse Scholtens (5-7) took the loss in the California League game after allowing three runs and nine hits over five innings. Art Warren pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for his eighth save of the season.
