SAN JOSE,   (AP) — A fire has destroyed a century-old Catholic church in San Jose.

San Jose Fire Department Capt. Mike Van Elgort says the fire at Holy Cross Catholic Church broke out Sunday afternoon and quickly spread through the second floor and then to the roof.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The parish was founded in 1906 to serve working-class Italian immigrants in one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods.
