SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — Will Gilbert got Jack Kruger to hit into a double play in the seventh inning, leading the Stockton Ports to a 5-4 win over the Inland Empire 66ers on Monday.
The double play came with the bases loaded and prevented the 66ers from scoring in the inning.
Inland Empire took the lead in the first when Jared Walsh hit a three-run home run.
Trailing 4-3, the Ports took the lead for good with two runs in the seventh inning. Jonah Heim and Dairon Blanco both drove in runs en route to the one-run lead.
Starter Brian Howard (4-2) got the win while Carlos Salazar (0-2) took the loss in relief in the California League game. Miguel Romero struck out the side for his seventh save of the season.
