Goldstein slam helps Ports beat San Jose

STOCKTON (AP) — Jason Goldstein hit a grand slam in the fifth inning, and Matt Milburn allowed just five hits over seven innings as the Stockton Ports defeated the San Jose Giants 6-0 on Wednesday.

The grand slam by Goldstein scored William Toffey, Luke Persico, and Luis Barrera to give the Ports a 5-0 lead.

Milburn (3-2) struck out six to pick up the win.

Melvin Adon (2-4) went 2 2/3 innings, allowing one run and four hits in the California League game. He also struck out two and walked three.

Jacob Heyward singled three times for the Giants. San Jose was held off the scoreboard for the second time this season, while the Stockton staff recorded its seventh shutout of the year.
