JetHawks soar past Ports in slugfest

LANCASTER (AP) — Colton Welker doubled and singled twice, driving in three runs as the Lancaster JetHawks defeated the Stockton Ports 9-7 on Thursday. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the JetHawks and a three-game winning streak for the Ports.

Manuel Melendez tripled, doubled and singled with a pair of runs and a couple of RBIs for Lancaster.

Justin Lawrence struck Edwin Diaz out with runners on first and second to end the game for his ninth save of the season.

Lancaster scored in six different innings in the victory, including the fourth, when Welker hit an RBI single and Melendez hit a two-run triple.

Lancaster right-hander Antonio Santos (3-2) picked up the win after allowing two runs on seven hits over five innings. Opposing starter Matt Milburn (7-5) took the loss in the California League game after a rough outing in which he allowed seven runs and 11 hits over five innings.

For the Ports, Brett Siddall homered and singled. Chase Calabuig doubled and singled twice.
