Jimenez, Brigman lead the way for Modesto

VISALIA  (AP) — Anthony Jimenez doubled three times and singled, scoring three runs as the Modesto Nuts defeated the Visalia Rawhide 9-5 on Monday.

Bryson Brigman doubled and singled twice with two runs for Modesto.

Down 1-0 in the third, Modesto took the lead when Jimenez scored on a fielder’s choice and Luis Liberato hit a two-run double.

Visalia answered in the bottom of the inning when Dominic Miroglio hit an RBI single, driving in Marcus Wilson to cut the deficit to one.

The Nuts later added two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth to secure the victory.

Modesto starter Colin Rodgers (2-2) picked up the win despite allowing four runs over 5 2/3 innings. Opposing starter Kevin McCanna (4-2) took the loss in the California League game after a rough outing in which he allowed eight runs and eight hits over 4 2/3 innings.

The six extra-base hits for Modesto included a season-high six doubles.
