Larsen hits walk-off double in 10th, Modesto beats Stockton 2-1

MODESTO (AP) — Jack Larsen had a walk-off double with one out in the 10th inning, as the Modesto Nuts topped the Stockton Ports 2-1 on Thursday. The Nuts swept the three-game series with the win.

Jake Scheiner scored the game-winning run after he hit an RBI single and advanced to third on a double by Larsen.

The Ports took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 10th when Payton Squier hit an RBI double, driving in Robert Mullen.

GIANTS 9, RAWHIDE 5

SAN JOSE (AP) — Aaron Bond hit a two-run double in the sixth inning, leading the San Jose Giants to a 9-5 win over the Visalia Rawhide on Thursday. The Giants swept the three-game series with the win.

The double by Bond came in the midst of a five-run inning and gave the Giants a 6-5 lead. Later in the inning, Shane Matheny hit an RBI single, bringing home Bond.

The Giants added to their lead in the eighth when Fabian Pena hit a two-run home run.

Mac Marshall (2-0) got the win with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Jose Cuas (0-1) took the loss in the California League game.

RIVER CATS 10, ACES 2

SACRAMENTO (AP) — Chris Shaw hit three home runs and drove in seven runs, as the Sacramento River Cats defeated the Reno Aces 10-2 on Thursday. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the River Cats and a four-game winning streak for the Aces.

Shaw hit a three-run shot in the first, a two-run shot in the third and a two-run shot in the fifth. Mike Gerber doubled twice, scoring two runs in the win.

Andrew Suarez (7-6) got the win with three innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Reno starter Riley Smith (2-2) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game.

For the Aces, Kevin Cron singled three times.
