BEAUMONT (AP) — Erynne Lee won the Symetra Tour’s season-opening IOA Championship on Sunday, making an eagle on the par-5 16th and closing with a 7-under 65 for a one-stroke victory.

The 23-year-old former UCLA player was making her first start on the tour. She finished at 11-under 205 at Tukwet Canyon Golf Club at Morongo and earned $15,000.

“I am still awe-struck right now. I can’t believe I am standing here looking at a camera and talking about how I played a great round and won the tournament,” said Lee, a former 2014 Curtis Cup player from Silverdale, Washington. “It has just been a really great week.”

She won a mini-tour event two weeks ago on the course.

“I pretty much know the right spots to hit the ball and I know the greens,” Lee said. “I am very familiar with the course.”

Jessica Wallace shot a 70 to finish second. Tied for the lead, the Canadian bogeyed the par-4 18th after driving into the right rough and failing to get up-and-down for par from the fringe.

Wallace earned $9,649. The top 10 on the money list at the end of the season will earn LPGA Tour cards.

Sweden’s Madelene Sagstrom, tied for the lead with Wallace entering the day, had a double bogey on 16 and finished with a 71 to drop into a tie for third with Jenny Coleman (68) at 9 under.
