VISALIA (AP) — Manny Pazos had three hits and two RBI, and Reggie McClain struck out nine hitters over six innings as the Modesto Nuts defeated the Visalia Rawhide 8-4 on Friday.

McClain (4-10) allowed one run and four hits while walking one to get the win.

Modesto started the scoring in the second inning when Pazos hit an RBI single and Joe Rizzo scored on a double play.

Visalia answered in the bottom of the frame when Luis Alejandro Basabe hit an RBI single, driving in Pavin Smith to cut the deficit to one.

The Nuts later added a run in the fourth and five in the eighth. In the fourth, Rizzo scored on a force-out, while Jack Larsen and Jordan Cowan hit two-run singles in the eighth.

Cole Stapler (0-4) went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs and nine hits in the California League game. He also struck out five and walked one.
