MODESTO (AP) — Jack Larsen hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, leading the Modesto Nuts to a 12-5 win over the Visalia Rawhide on Thursday. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Nuts and a four-game winning streak for the Rawhide.
The home run by Larsen scored Joe Rizzo to tie the game 4-4.
Modesto later scored in three additional innings, including a five-run eighth, when Nick Zammarelli hit a two-run double and then scored on a two-run single by Rizzo to help finish off the blowout.
Evan White was a home run short of the cycle, driving home three runs and scoring a couple for Modesto.
Modesto starter Nick Wells (5-4) picked up the win despite allowing four runs and five hits over five innings. Opposing starter Cole Stapler (0-5) took the loss in the California League game after giving up five runs and nine hits over five innings.
