seventh on the way to a 5-2 win over the visiting Stockton Ports at John Thurman Field.

Leadoff batter Noelvi Marte was 2 for 5 with a run and an RBI for the Nuts (4-1 California League). After loading the bases in the second inning, Matt Scheffler, Juan Querecuto Jr. and Marte each knocked in a run for a 3-0 lead.

In the seventh inning Brayan Buelvas singled in Marte and Cade Marlow scored on a Trent Tingelstad fielder’s choice to make the score 5-2.

The Ports (1-4) got on the board in the fourth inning when Brayan Buelvas scored on a T.J. Schofield-Sam groundout, drawing Stockton to within 3-1. In the seventh, the Ports narrowed the gap to 3-2 when Sahid Valenzuela grounded out to score T.J. Schofield.  

Stephen Kolek picked up the win for Modesto and Kumar Nambiar was tagged with the loss for Stockton.
