STOCKTON — The Lake Elsinore Storm and Stockton Ports combined for 12 runs in the first two innings but the Ports could not close an early six-run gap in a 9-7 loss Sunday at Banner Island Ball Park.

Trailing 7-1 going into the bottom of the second the Ports (12-18) tallied four runs in the frame to come within 7-5. Grant Jones laced an RBI double to plate T.J. Schofield-Sam with Sahid Valenzuela, Kevin Richards (3 for 5, RBI, run) and Lawrence Butler all adding an RBI.

Joshwan Wright narrowed the deficit to 7-6 with an RBI single in the fifth only for Lake Elsinore (14-16) to take a 9-6 lead into the eighth inning when Schofield-Sam tallied an RBI on a sacrifice for what would be the final score of 9-7.

Stockton begins a six-game series tonight at 7:05 against the San Jose Giants at Banner Island Ballpark.
