Ports ride Diaz’s early 3-run homer in blowout victory

STOCKTON (AP) — Edwin Diaz hit a three-run home run in the third inning, leading the Stockton Ports to a 10-3 win over the San Jose Giants on Friday.

The home run by Diaz scored Viosergy Rosa and Luke Persico to give the Ports a 4-1 lead.

After Stockton added a run in the fourth on a home run by Santiago Chavez, the Giants cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Heath Quinn hit a two-run single.

The Ports later added two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to punctuate the blowout.

Andrew Tomasovich (2-1) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while San Jose starter John Gavin (0-2) took the loss in the California League game.

For the Giants, Dillon Dobson homered and singled.
