ALAMEDA (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have placed linebacker Sio Moore on season-ending injured reserve with a hip injury.

Oakland signed cornerback Chance Casey off the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers to take Moore’s place on the active roster Tuesday.

Moore started 11 games in his second season. He had 79 solo tackles, three sacks, two passes defensed and one forced fumble. He is considered to be a building block on the Raiders defense.

Casey spent last season with the Raiders. He was mostly on the practice squad but played two games. He was waived at the end of training camp this year.

Chargers’ Keenan Allen
has broken right collarbone

Keenan Allen, the San Diego Chargers’ leading receiver, has a broken right collarbone, the team said Tuesday.

Allen, who has 77 catches for 783 yards and four touchdowns this season, also injured his right ankle during the Chargers’ loss Sunday to the Denver Broncos.

With Allen’s status in doubt for Saturday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Chargers will lean more on wide receivers Malcom Floyd and Eddie Royal. The same goes for their backups, Seyi Ajirotutu and Dontrelle Inman.

Brain-injury program
working with NFL players

Representatives with the Eisenhower Center announced Tuesday that it will be the primary facility used by the NFL Players Association for treating brain injuries and other neurological issues through the After the Impact program.

The NFL expects 6,000 of nearly 20,000 retired players — or 28 percent — to suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or at least moderate dementia someday. Former players have sued.
