Ramos’ 2-run HR lifts Giants past Ports

STOCKTON (AP) — Heliot Ramos hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, leading the San Jose Giants to a 4-3 win over the Stockton Ports on Tuesday.

The home run by Ramos capped a three-run inning and gave the Giants a 4-3 lead after Orlando Garcia hit a sacrifice fly earlier in the inning.

The Ports went up 3-1 early when Austin Beck scored on a force out in the third.

Camilo Doval (1-1) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Jared Poche’ (0-1) took the loss in the California League game.


66ers 2, Nuts 0

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) -- Isaac Mattson and three other pitchers combined for a shutout as the Inland Empire 66ers topped the Modesto Nuts 2-0 on Tuesday.

Mattson (1-0) went three scoreless innings, striking out five to pick up the win. Ljay Newsome (1-1) went five innings, allowing one run and four hits in the California League game. 


51s 10, River Cats 2

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Franklin Barreto had three hits and two RBI, and Daniel Mengden struck out nine hitters over six innings as the Las Vegas Aviators defeated the Sacramento River Cats 10-2 on Tuesday.

Mengden (1-0) picked up the win after he walked two while allowing one run and one hit.

Down 1-0, the Aviators took the lead for good with five runs in the second inning. The Aviators sent 10 men to the plate as Mark Payton and Jorge Mateo hit RBI singles en route to the four-run lead.
