Ripon Christian dominates Big Valley

Ripon Christian put up 22 points in the first and third quarters on the way to a 78-58 non-league boys basketball win over visiting Big Valley Christian-Modesto on Saturday.

 The Knights (9-2) boasted three players in double figures with Sean Broker leading all scorers at 29 points, shooting a phenomenal 14 of 14 from the field. Travis Vander Molen adding 20 and Lukas Vermuelen 10. Austin Alger just missed double figures at nine points. Daniel Giannosa led the Lions (7-3) with 22 points.

 Broker had seven rebounds with Vander Molen (four assists), Alger and Danny Vander Molen (six assists) grabbing six apiece.

 “Sean Broker had an awesome game,” Ripon Christian coach Ron Vander Molen said. “Travis Vander Molen played well on both sides of the ball and had 16 of his 20 points in second half.

 “We were able to get to the basket against them – we only had one 3-pointer.”

The visiting Cougars (7-5) trailed 31-17 at halftime.

 “We put it on them in the second half,” Weston Ranch coach Chris Teevan said. “We picked up the pace and got some good contributions from josh Dilg and Jordan Taugha.”

Jaelen Ragsdale led the Cougars with 21 points.
