Rivas, Armenteros lead the way for Stockton

STOCKTON (AP) —Alfonso Rivas homered and singled, driving in two runs as the Stockton Ports defeated the San Jose Giants 8-5 on Thursday.

Lazaro Armenteros homered and doubled for Stockton.

Stockton took the lead in the first when Austin Beck hit a two-run double and then scored on a single by Trace Loehr.

Trailing 7-1, the Giants cut into the deficit in the seventh inning when Jean Angomas hit an RBI single and then scored on a three-run home run by Zander Clarke.

Rawhide 2, Nuts 1

VISALIA (AP) — Jake McCarthy hit a walk-off single with two outs in the 10th inning, as the Visalia Rawhide defeated the Modesto Nuts 2-1 on Thursday.

Jancarlos Cintron scored the game-winning run after he started the inning on second and advanced to third on a single by McCarthy.

In the bottom of the first, Visalia grabbed the lead on a single by Luis Alejandro Basabe that scored L.T. Tolbert. Modesto answered in the next half-inning when Jack Larsen hit an RBI single, bringing home Joe Rizzo.

Aviators 11, 

River Cats 10

LAS VEGAS (AP) —Corban Joseph hit a walk-off single with one out in the ninth inning, as the Las Vegas Aviators topped the Sacramento River Cats 11-10 on Thursday.

Mark Payton scored the game-winning run after he entered the game as a pinch runner.

One batter earlier, Skye Bolt singled, scoring Franklin Barreto to tie the game 10-10.

The Aviators cut the deficit to 10-9 in the bottom of the seventh when Bolt hit a three-run home run as part of a four-run inning.
