Former East Union softball player Marissa Romero was named to the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team last week.
She is one of four players from the University of Redlands to earn the honor for having at least a 3.40 cumulative GPA. Romero is studying English Literature.
Romero appeared in 35 games for the Bulldogs (13-15 conference, 19-21 overall) in her sophomore season. She hit .286 and finished fourth on the team with 20 runs scored and second in stolen bases with nine. She also had a .943 fielding percentage as an outfielder.
