SAN JOSE  (AP) — Nicolas Lodeiro scored in the 80th minute and the Seattle Sounders rallied to tie the San Jose Earthquakes 1-1 on Saturday night.

The Sounders (9-13-5) bounced back after having their five-game undefeated streak snapped at Portland on Aug. 28, while the Earthquakes (7-8-12) are winless in four straight.

Lodeiro, who transferred from Argentina’s Boca Juniors and signed with Seattle in July, scored off a free kick for his third goal of the season.

In the first half, San Jose’s Jordan Stewart crossed to Chris Wondolowski, who scored an easy tap-in in front of the goal in the 20th minute. The Sounders midfielder Osvaldo Alonso used a bicycle kick at the goal line to clear Stewart’s header attempt in the seventh minute, and goalkeeper Stefan Frei made a diving save of Wondolowski’s right-footed shot from outside the 6-yard box in the 40th minute.

Darwin Ceren crossed to Wondolowski in the third minute of second-half stoppage time, but his header was too high.
