NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) — Jordan Spieth feels like he’s on vacation in the Bahamas. On the golf course, he’s all business.
The defending champion rallied from a rugged start Friday with three straight birdies, and then a surge on the back nine carried him to a 6-under 66 and a share of the lead with Jimmy Walker and Bill Haas going into the weekend at the Hero World Challenge.
Spieth had to work hard just to keep pace on a calm, muggy afternoon is the islands, where the wind wasn’t strong enough to blow out a match and it showed in the scoring. Rarely has this holiday event with an 18-man field featured so many players near the lead.

AUSTRALIAN PGA
GOLD COAST, Australia (AP) — Sweden’s David Lingmerth shot a 4-under 68 to take a one-stroke lead after two rounds in the Australian PGA.
Lingmerth had a 3-under 141 total on a Royal Pines course playing slightly easier than Thursday, when rain and gusting wind prevented all but six players from finishing under par. Only 12 players were under par after the second round.

NEDBANK GOLF CHALLENGE
SUN CITY, South Africa (AP) — Sweden’s Henrik Stenson had five back-nine birdies in a 5-under 67 to take a one-stroke lead in the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
After bogeying three straight holes before a two-hour rain delay, Stenson picked up five shots between the 11th and 17th holes to reach 11-under 133 at Gary Player Country Club. He won the event in 2008.
South Africa’s Jaco van Zyl was second after a 69. American Robert Streb had a 66 — the best round of the day — to reach 9 under.
CHAMPIONS TOUR QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Brandt Jobe won the Champions Tour qualifying tournament to earn one of five fully exempt spots next year, closing with a 2-under 69 for a one-stroke victory.
Jobe, a six-time winner on the Japan Golf Tour, had an 18-under 266 total on TPC Scottsdale’s Champions Course. Tom Byrum, Willie Wood and Jose Coceres tied for second, and Mike Grob was another stroke back to take the last fully exempt spot. Byrum shot 63, Wood and Coceres 67, and Grob 69.
The next seven players — John Riegger, Gibby Gilbert III, Jean-Francois Remesy, Stan Utley, 1996 U.S. Open champion Steve Jones, Chien Soon Lu and Miguel Angel Martin — are conditionally exempt. The top 30 finishers and ties are eligible to compete for spots in open qualifiers.
LPGA TOUR QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — China’s Simin Feng eagled the par-5 18th hole to take a two-stroke lead after the third round of the LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.
The 20-year-old Feng shot a 3-under 69 on LPGA International’s Jones Course to reach 12-under 204.
The top 20 finishers Sunday will earn full LPGA Tour cards, and Nos. 21-45 and ties will receive conditional status.
Cydney Clanton was second after a 69 on the Jones Course. South Korea’s Julie Yang was another stroke back after a 72 on the Hills Course.
