Visalia hit stampede sinks Stockton Ports

VISALIA  (AP) — Camden Duzenack hit a two-run home run and had three hits, driving in five, and Emilio Vargas struck out nine hitters over seven innings as the Visalia Rawhide topped the Stockton Ports 11-0 on Sunday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Rawhide and a five-game winning streak for the Ports.

Vargas (4-1) allowed five hits to pick up the win.

Visalia started the scoring in the first inning when Daulton Varsho hit a two-run home run.

The Rawhide later scored in four more innings to punctuate the blowout, including three runs in the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Varsho and Dominic Miroglio hit RBI singles, while Duzenack hit a two-run home run in the eighth.

Dustin Hurlbutt (1-1) went four innings, allowing five runs and five hits in the California League game. He also struck out four and walked two.

The Ports were blanked for the seventh time this season, while the Rawhide’s staff recorded their fifth shutout of the year.
