SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Golden State Warriors are a big step closer to building a new arena in San Francisco.

The team announced Monday that it has purchased a 12-acre site for the arena in the city’s Mission Bay neighborhood from Salesforce.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Warriors are planning to leave Oracle Arena in Oakland and build the new, 18,000-seat venue along with offices and restaurants on the 12-acre site, which is close to AT&T Park, where the San Francisco Giants play.

The team hopes to open the new arena in time for the 2018-19 NBA season. An environmental review is expected to be completed this fall.
