Zammarelli’s single leads Nuts to win over Storm

 MODESTO (AP) — Nick Zammarelli hit a two-run single in the fourth inning, leading the Modesto Nuts to a 3-1 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Friday.
The single by Zammarelli scored Joe Rizzo and Logan Taylor to give the Nuts a 2-1 lead.
The Nuts tacked on another run in the sixth when Kevin Santa drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Taylor.
Modesto right-hander Darren McCaughan (2-3) picked up the win after allowing one run on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings. Opposing starter Michel Baez (0-3) took the loss in the California League game after he allowed two runs on just two hits over 4 2/3 innings. Seth Elledge retired the side in order for his fourth save of the season.
Modesto improved to 3-1 against Lake Elsinore this season.
