Bumps, bruises have little effect on Cowboys

The Manteca Cowboys were a bit banged up last Saturday, but the 19-6 NorCal All-American Youth Football League victory against the Weston Ranch Ravens helped soothed everything.

Manteca (3-1) relied on its ground game, controlling the time of possession while gaining over 250 rushing yards.

Justin Scoz led the way with 118 yards and two touchdowns. Parker Caston added 82 and Mykail Redman chipped in with 29 yards.

Nilo Yuson, in addition, scored on a 12-yard run.

Defensively, Steven Sanchez and Redman were both credited with three tackles and a sack, Alex Galvan also had three tackles and a blocked punt, Jaymz Jones had a fumble recovery, and Yuson came through with an interception.

Caston, Scoz and Manuel Santos also had three tackles.

The Cowboys will host the Junior Delta Kings at 4 p.m. Saturday at Manteca High’s Guss Schmiedt Field.

Cowboys 50, Ravens 0


Manteca (4-0) stayed unbeaten thanks to Angel Sena’s five-touchdown game against Weston Ranch.

He completed 12 of his 13 passes for 208 yards including two for TDs and, on defense, had six tackles and three sacks

Marcus Panelo scored three times while picking up 84 yards on five carries and completing two passes for 117 yards. He also had five tackles on defense.

Gabriel Francisco had a 59-yard TD and contributed defensively with four tackles and two pass deflections.

In addition, Seuseu Alofaituli scored twice and collected five tackles.



Rookies

Cowboys 19, Ravens 12


Matthew Pilkay scored twice and Andrew Sena delivered on a 65-yard kickoff return to pace Manteca past Weston Ranch.

The Cowboys (3-1) controlled ground game, with Pilkay picking up 60 yards on nine carries and Persley Demello gaining 47 yards on 11 pops.

A.J. Martinez and Melvin McCoy contributed 24 and 16 yards, respectively.

Defensively, Carlos Gonzalez led the way with seven tackles and a sack. Klayton Torres, Vincent Bocanegra, McCoy and Martinez had five stops each. McCoy had three sacks and Torres chipped in with one.

Pilkay, in addition, had five tackles and a pair of sacks while Julian Scoz and Demello had four stops apiece.

Manteca (3-1) suffered its first NCAAYFL loss of the season, falling to Weston Ranch.

For the Cowboys, Kimoni Stanley was the top ball carrier, racking up 59 yards. Joshua Grabowski and Joelle Urtega added 18 and 14, respectively.

Adam Sena led the defense with four tackles along with two assists and a sack.

Alex Scoz, Nicco Cedolini, and Diego Leon each recovered a fumble.
