Jordan Cabral belted a three-run home run Wednesday for the Padres and totaled five RBI as the Padres took the first game in a best-of-three series from the White Sox for the majors championship of Lathrop Little League at Mossdale Landing Community Park.

Justin Spencer (RBI, two runs) walked for the Padres in the fifth inning and Roxy Alvarado was hit by a pitch following a sacrifice bunt by Mackie Barajas. Spencer and Alvarado both came in on Cabral’s home run that gave the Padres some breathing room at 8-4. Cabral (2 for 3, five RBI, home run, two runs) blooped a single in the sixth to score Spencer and Barajas to make the score 11-4.

Sebastian Porras was 3 for 4 for the Padres. Colin Calkina (triple, run), Gabe Ramirez (RBI, two runs) and Roxy Alvarado (two runs) rounded out the Padres attack.

The big inning for the White Sox was a three-run second behind a pair of Padres errors. Sebastian Perez (2 for 3, double, run) doubled and scored for the White Sox in the frame and Jackson McCray (2 for 3, RBI) singled in Himmat Sadhra. Abel Figueroa doubled in the fifth for the White Sox.

The two teams play again Friday at 5:30 p.m. for the second game of the series.
