Ryan Dagget scored on offense and defense to lead the Ripon Chiefs varsity over the Waterford Sabercats 34-0 in Motherlode Valley Football League action on Saturday.
Dagget ran for one score, threw to John Eicher for another and returned an interception 45 yards for a third touchdown. Michael Solario and Gregory Clark added rushing rushing touchdowns.
Ripon led 16-0 lead at halftime and used ball control to dominate the second half, with Clark running the ball. The Chiefs fullback had eight carries for 45 yards, all in the second half.
Junior Varsity
Chiefs 47, Sabercats 0
The Chiefs used a balanced attack to remain undefeated in six outings.
Nico Ilardi had touchdown passes of 20 yards to Aiden Benzinger and 42 yards to Aaron McConough. On the ground Grant Wiebe scored from 1 yard out, Benzinger on a 2-yard run, Aaron Stevenson from 5 yards out and Gunner Bertsch on a 26-yard run. Lucas Esenwein and Dorian Dougherty also had receptions
Nathan Valdez was 2 for 3 on conversions and thanks to his deep kickoffs the Sabercats began their drives deep in their own territory. Tommy Campbell had an interception return for a 36-yard touchdown. Wiebe recovered an onside kick and Matthew Padilla recovered a fumble.
Novice
Sabercats 32, Chiefs 14
The Chiefs were shut out in the first half.
Trailing 14-0, Blake Nichelson returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown to draw Ripon within 14-7.
Nichelson scored in the fourth quarter, but the Sabercats scored twice in the final period to seal the win.
Caleb Johnston and Isaiah San Nicholas also played well for the Chiefs.
