Cowboys blast Panthers for 4th shutout

The Manteca Cowboys varsity racked up 26 first-half points on the way to a 43-0 DYSA win over the host Central Valley Panthers on Saturday in Modesto.

Joseph Espinosa amassed 128 yards on just four carries with touchdown runs of 42 and 44 yards and a 6-yard scoring pass to Preslly Demello. Antonio Montero tallied 91 yards on eight carries with touchdown runs of 23 ad 38 yards as well as three conversion kicks and A.J. Martinez (eight carries 41 yards) had a 10-yard touchdown run.

Alex Alexander led the Cowboys defense that posted its fourth shutout with four tackles. Antonio Montero, Anthony Contreras, Brian Larkin, Klayton Torres and Justin Mount each had three tackles and Martinez a fumble recovery.

 

Junior Varsity

Cowboys 53, Panthers 12

Kimoni Stanley ran for two touchdowns with 206 yards rushing and returned an interception for a Cowboys touchdown.

Shane Crawford ran for one touchdown and returned a kickoff 72 yards for another,  Leo Bonilla (four carries, 82 Yards) had a 59-yard run for a touchdown and a 5-yard pitch and catch for another. Eric Morales (3 of 7 passing, 29 yards) had touchdown passes of 13 yards to Asiah Scott and 5 yards to Leo Bonilla.

Shane Crawford had 11 tackles for Manteca, Sergio Espinoza five stops with two pass deflections, Stanley six tackles, Angelo Lopez, Nicco Cedolini and Anthony Salcido four each and Frank Clark three.

 

Rookies

Cowboys 34, Panthers 0

Daniel Morales ran for 23-yard touchdown returned a punt 56 yards for another to lead the Cowboys. Trey Marlin had a 36-yard catch to set up a 40-yard touchdown run by Derek Alicia. B.J.  Davis scored his first touchdown on a 40-yard run.

Raheem Carol had five tackles in the second quarter and Derek Alicia three in the final period for Manteca. Marlin, Robbie Larkin, Paul German, Joe Lopez, Ryan Torres and Noel Ruezga (interception) all had good games on defense for the Cowboys.

 

Starts

Cowboys 19, Panthers 6

Alex Cervantes scored three touchdowns for the Cowboys and ran for 203 yards on 14 carries.

Bryson David and Izayah Houston each has seven tackles to lead the Manteca defense. Alex Cervantes added six stops, Brandyn Sena five, Matthew Wilcox and Nico Cedolini four apiece and Lucas White an interception. Andrew Barnett, Erik Ochoa, Anthony Morales, Isaiah De los Santos, Blake Mount and Elias Ceja all contributed on defense for the Cowboys.
