Cowboys come up short in NCYFL

Dylan Lee threw three touchdown passes for the Manteca Cowboys varsity Saturday only for the Lodi Titans to get a fourth-quarter touchdown to break a tie and win the Northern California Youth Football League contest 25-19 at Guss Schmiedt Field.  

 Lee (9 of 20 passing, 231 yards) had touchdown throws of 24 and 58 yards to Keona Cayode (162 yards receiving, 50 yards rushing) and 5 yards to Angel Ramirez (33 yards receiving). Marques Callahan, Ace Avelar, Emilio Perez and Colton Stonum also contributed on offense. 

 Lee (two fumble recoveries) and Cayode made six tackles each with Ramirez and Nick Luna making four tackles each and R.J. Bacigalupi, Fateh Singh,Colton  Stonum (interception) making two stops each. Avelar, Marques Callahan, Mario De la Rosa, Mariah Gill and Emilio Perez also contributed on defense. 

 

Manteca Jr. Timberwolves 34, Tracy Buccaneers 15

Evyn White and Alijah Cota combined for three touchdowns and more than 200 yards for the Jr. Timberwolves.  

White (11 carries 140 yards) had scoring runs of 11 and 71 yards. Cota (11 carries 105 yards) scored on a 16-yard run, Keanu Duenas (nine carries, 93 yards) scored from 50 yards out and Tommy Perea (five carries, 30 yards) scored on a 23-yard run.

Jason Agulay led the Manteca defense with 11 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. White (fumble recovery) added seven tackles, Luis Rivera five, Cota, Jarred Amaya and Adrian Rios four apiece and Julian Espinosa (interception) two. 

 

Junior Varsity

Cowboys 31, Titans 25 (OT) 

After the Cowboys forced negative yardage on the Titans in overtime, Izayah Houston scored on a 7-yard run for the Cowboys to end the game. 

 Bryson Davis (15 carries, 293 yards; one catch, 44 yards) scored three touchdowns for Manteca on runs of 7, 8 and 48 yards and Omar Diaz (five carries, 25 yards) scored on a 12-yard run. Gabriel Flores added 33 yards on eight carries and Houston had 35 yards on five carries. 

Davis led the Cowboys defense with 14 tackles followed by Isaac Alvarez and Gavin Goodwin with 12 each; Flores with nine; Ivan Alvarez, Nico Salcido, Landon Butler and Morgan Barcliff with eight apiece; Blake Mount, Brandyn Sena and Donovan Jones with seven each; Santana Stevenson with six, Diaz (two deflected passes, interception) and Julian Perez with five apiece and Jaden Gallego with four.

 

Rookies

Cowboys 28, Titans 7

Robbie Espinosa scored two touchdowns for the Cowboys.

Espinosa (eight carries, 67 yards) scored on runs of 5 and 15 yards. Anthony Morales (eight carries, 45 yards; 30 yards passing) added a 5-yard touchdown run and Nikko Juarez (four carries, 67 yards) scored from 51 yards out. Jeremy Ap’e added 30 yards on seven carries.

 Ap’e ,Dylan Stonum and Christopher Gallego made four tackles apiece. Nikko Juarez, Julian Constance and Mehtaab Bhangu added four stops each and Gabriel Lopez, Devin Downey, Koa Rodrigues and Kayden Jones made three tackles apiece.

 

Jr. Timberwolves 41, Buccaneers 0

Leiland Riggelman scored three touchdowns and ran for more than 200 yards for the Jr. Timberwolves.

 Riggleman picked up 218 yards on six carries with scoring runs of 31, 55 and 79 yards. Brody Carabello (four carries, 64 yards) scored on a 6-yard run, Elijah Pugh (two carries, 61 yards) ran one in from 57 yards and Kendall Sweet-Mallory scored on his only carry of 55 yards.

 Manteca only gave up one first down and was led by Carabello with six tackles, Alex Espinoza and Riggelman made four apiece, Tino Torres (interception) three and Rudy Torrez and Brixton Menchaca-Ortiz two each.

Titans 18, Cowboys 15

Elias Lopez ran for 100 yards for the Cowboys.

 Lopez had 12 carries for that 100 yards with a 30-yard touchdown run.  Kaleb Moreno (seven carries, 47 yards) posted a 4-yard touchdown run and Mario Quezada chipped in 40 yards on five carries.

 Mario Quezada was in on seven tackles for the Cowboys. Lopez made six stops and Daniel Bass Jr. and Fernando Flores had five each.

 

Trans-Valley Youth Football League

Ripon Knights Varsity 38, 

Denair Lions 12

 Blake Nichelson picked up 84 yards on just two carries and scored once for the Knights.

 Jacob Cormier (70 yards rushing) added a touchdown and Derek Vanelderen scored one from 5 yards out. Thys Vanderhoek scored on a 21-yard pass from Trey Fasani and Tyler Giles added a rushing touchdown. Vanelderen made three of four two-point conversion 

 Gabriel New and David Johnston (interception) led Ripon with six 6 tackles each followed by Vanderhoek with five stops and Isaac Algaier with four.

 

Junior Varsity

Knights 38, Lions 0

 Carson Sanders ran for one touchdown and threw for another for the Knights.

 Sanders ran for 67 yards with a 30-yard scoring run and had a 35-yard scoring pass to Preston Zuidervaart. Jacob Camper (74 yards rushing) had a 36-yard touchdown run, Stephen Dillman (57 yards rushing) scored from 42 yards out and Anden Ries (52 yards rushing) added a 1-yard scoring plunge. Chase Bogetti was 4 for 5 on two-point conversion kicks. 

Ries (fuble recovery) made seven tackles, Sanders six, Brody Nail (fumble recovery) and Camper five apiece, Chase Bogetti and Carson Bunnell four each, Andrew Mensonides three and  

 Rey Galindo (interception), Brady Rossi (forced fumble), Matthew Chapman and Jackson Baber two apiece. 

 

Novice

Knights 21, Lions 0 

 The Knights posted their first shutout of the year led by Jax Booth with 11 tackles, Landon Corcoran with six, and David Rowe, Dylan Parker and Dax Beidlman with three apiece along with a fumble recovery by Mason Durao.

 The Knights ran hard behind the great blocking of the offensive line. Gavin Decena had 11 carries for 71 yards with two touchdowns and Mason Durao threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Ben Vita.

 

CenCal Varsity

Merced Cougars 46, 

Manteca Raiders 6

 Andrew Yzaguirre made three catches for 88 yards with a 67-yard touchdown reception for the Raiders.

 Louis Sequeira (5 of 16 passing, 92 yards) had the touchdown throw to Yzaguirre and along with Yzaguirre had three tackles apiece. 

 Moises Alvarado made nine tackles for Manteca. David Flores Melo added six stops, Justin Tisdell five, Ricardo Villavalzo four and Andrew Robison three. 

 

Peewee

Cougars 40, Raiders 0

 Dean Sortonis made eight tackles for the Raiders.

 Jose Rivera added four stops with Issac Covarrubias, Aeryk Snyder, Jacob Ramirez, Jordan Murphy, Marshal Singleton, Aiden Mariscal and Colton-Jay Silva all contributing on offense.

 

Sergio Hernandez had 28 yards passing for Manteca. Issac Covarrabuis added 18 yards passing, Dean Sortonis10 and Sergio Hernandez had 33 yards rushing. Murphy and Jovani Avalos also contributed on offense.

 

Rookies

Raiders, Cougars 

(no score kept at this level) 

 DeAndre Patterson ran for 98 yards with a touchdown for the Raiders.

Ayden Brush made eight tackles, Patterson six, Elijah Arreola five and Dominick Flores and Jaxon Hetrick three each.

 

Motherlode Valley Football League

Ripon Chiefs Junior Varsity 47, Central Valley 49ers 14

 Kaden MacDannald scored four touchdowns for the Chiefs.

 MacDannald (nine carries, 165 yards) had touchdown runs of 7, 12, 27 and 47 yards. Tyler Paul Wentworth (2 for 2 passing, 40 yards; six carries, 49 yards) added a 5-yard touchdown run, Seth Van Dyk (eight carries, 22 yards) scored from 4 yards out and Xzavier Clark had an 11-yard scoring run.

 Van Dyk (interception)  led Ripon with six tackles.  Quinn Martinez (interception)  and Wentworth added five stops apiece, Garrison Reis (tipped pass), Fernando Alaniz (forced fumble), MacDannald  and  Jesus Ochoa made four tackles each and Rylan McDonald and Ty Herrin had two apiece. Cannan Clark recovered a fumble.

 Ochoa and Reis also contributed on offense.
