Joseph Espinosa led the Manteca Cowboys varsity in a 39-0 blanking of the Modesto Raiders on Sunday in opening-round action of the DYSA playoffs at Dino Cunial Field.    

Espinosa had eight carries for 103 yards with touchdown runs of 4 and 60 yards and was 4 of 7 passing for 145 yards with touchdown passes of 12 and 70 yards to Anthony Contreras (three receptions, 90 yards) and 55 yards to Nicholas Stanley. A.J. Martinez added 40 yards on five carries.

Martinez led the Cowboys with six tackles with Klayton Torres, Manuel Aguilar, Andrew Mount and Alex Alexander each getting five stops.

 

Junior varsity

Cowboys 43, Tracy Buccaneers 14

Kimoni Stanley racked up 192 yards on just seven carries with a touchdown for the Cowboys.

Eric Morales scored two touchdowns, gaining a whopping 126 yards on four carries and going 1 for 3 passing for 25 yards.

Shane Crawford added three touchdowns, gaining 98 yards on five carries.

Joey Aguirre (fumble recovery, forced fumble), Shane Crawford and Jamari Mulligan all had seven tackles for Manteca. Brady Geaney added six stops, Stanley Ronnie Ray Jr. and Angelo Lopez five each, Anthony Salicido four and Asiah Scott, Frank Clark, Nicco Cedolini and Jaden Tanforan (interception) all had three apiece.  Preston Church, Adam Sena, Humburto Hurtado, Justin Mount, Vincent Gomez, David Garcia, Eric Morales and Adam Garcia all contributed on defense.

Cowboys 6, Tracy Rampage 0

The Cowboys eked out a 5-yard touchdown run by Derek Alicea Jr. in the third quarter for the only score of the game.

Quarterback Daniel Morales ran for 60 yards and Alicea Jr. added 39 yards. Raheim Carroll led Manteca with seven tackles and a fumble recovery, Romeo Mahan had five tackles, a blocked punt and recovery and Angel Ramirez blocked a punt.

Xavier Mendez, Alicea Jr., Caleb Perales, Trey Moreland and Daniel Morales all contributed on defense for the Cowboys.

 

Starts

Cowboys 31, Central Valley Panthers 6 

It was the Alex Cervantes Show for the Cowboys.

Cervantes ran for 260 yards with touchdown runs of 30, 31, 40, 55, 60 an 75 yards.  

Cervantes led the defense with six tackles. Bryson Davis added four and Matthew Wilcox (interception, fumble recovery) and Izayah Houston had three stops each.
