Dane Anderson’s RBI double that scored Isaac Acuna was the highlight of a four-run fourth inning for the Cubs that ended the game via the mercy rule at 11-1 over the Phillies on Tuesday night in an elimination contest in the Manteca Little League majors playoffs at Lincoln Park.
Anderson added another RBI in the first inning and his double was one of only five hits for the Cubs, who took advantage of 10 walks and four Phillies errors. Jayce Quitasol was 2 for 3 with two runs for the Cubs, Acuna (RBI) and Quinn Martinez scored two runs and Anthony Jimenez scored and knocked in a run.
Nick Garcia (2 for 2, double, run) doubled for the Phillies in the top of the fourth and took third on Isaiah Alcocer’s fly to right. The throw to third was off the mark, allowing Garcia to come home.
The Cubs advance to the championship round tonight at 6.

A’s 10, Giants 9

The clock struck midnight for the Giants.
After a thrilling sixth-inning two-out comeback kept them alive in their last outing, the Giants fell behind 9-0 to battle back Monday only to leave the bases loaded in the sixth inning, ending their season.
The A’s play the Red Sox this afternoon at 5:30 and must win to force a winner-take-all game.
