Staff reports of the
Manteca (Calif.) Bulletin
After posting a comfortable 6-0 lead by the third inning, the Dodgers had little trouble closing out the Giants in a 10-4 Northgate Little League minor division playoff win.

Jacob Garcia handled the bulk of the Dodgers pitching, striking out five in his few innings of work. Tyler Soulier came on next, getting a pair of strikeouts before giving way to Brayden Goodnough for the final out.

Soulier got the Dodgers on the board first when he swiped home during Ryan Zavala’s first inning at-bat. The Dodgers broke things open in the second with a four-run outburst. Jacob Garcia had the big hit, smashing a two-RBI double, while Tim Couch added an RBI double as well.

The Giants were finally able to get on the board in the fourth, when Tyler Champion plated a run with a RBI walk. In the fifth inning, Brayden Abrew stroked a run scoring triple and Rayden Onate drove in a pair with a sixth inning triple.

Harrison Heath hit a home run for the Dodgers and Matthew Pilkay also hit a two-RBI double.

Northgate minor ‘B’
Bisons 8, Express 3
The Bisons took control early of the minor “B” division playoff contest, scoring five runs in the first inning on their way to a 8-3 victory in Northgate Little League tournament play.

Louis Aquila singled, Tyler Kiser doubled to score Avila kicking off the Bisons rally. The Express chipped back with two of their own in the bottom of the first, but another run in the fifth would be all the squad could muster.

Ty Cobb, Logan Harris and Josh Grabowski manufactured the Express’ early runs, and Matt Jordan (2 for 2) drove in the team’s final run.

The Bisons remain undefeated in tournament action, while the Express has only been dealt losses from the Bisons. The Bisons will be back on the diamond Friday against an opponent to be named later.
