Flyin Hawaiians finish with league title

A Central Valley-based team with players from the Manteca area closed out their Northern California High School Hockey league season with a championship title.

The Valley Oak Flying Hawaiians cruised to a 6-1 victory over South County for the league title.

The HP High School Hockey league is the premier ice hockey league in Northern California and the Hawaiians made a significant impact in their first season.

The area players to contribute to the championship season were Tyler Gulbronson, Jon Rivard and Alexander Stoley.

SOCCER
Fireballs 7, Santos 0
The Fireballs secured their top spot with another convincing win over the u-15 Santos team at the Manteca Field of Dreams recently.

Brittani Henneman scored three goals and Alexis Phillips netted two in the win. Both Katie Locke and Ashley Hallen scored once for the Fireballs. Taylor Boren handled the goal keeping duties, keeping Santos from scoring.

The Fireballs close out the season against the Tracy Triumphs before heading into the league championships in two weeks.

BASEBALL
Giants 6, Red Sox 3
The Red Sox got some strong performances in a losing effort, getting four innings of solid pitching from Caden Worth who struck out 10 before surrendering to Alec Alegre who tossed on shut-out inning in relief.

DJ King crushed a two-run double, while Phillip Luevano was 3-for-4 to pace the top of the order.
