The Manteca Area Soccer League got a quality showing from the under-14 Fury quad, but the club came up just short in a 1-0 loss to the Silver Extreme Saturday.
The Fury goalkeeper Kareena Escartin turned away six shots, but the Fury proved incapable of responding to the only goal Escartin surrendered. The Silver Extreme made good on a shot 20 minutes into the first half and it proved to be the difference.
The Fury got solid defensive play from Georgia Arriola and Marilyn Marin, and hope to get back in the win column when they continue along the MASL schedule this Saturday.
Coronado scored twice and teammate Kaylee Beneguere tallied a goal on an assist from Kendell Wackerly.
The Dynamos built a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into halftime and never gave it up. A complete team effort defensively over the second half enabled the squad to preserve the win.
Jacob Raya and Alejandro Ochoa played a key role for the Lions’ defensive unit in the contest, helping the squad stay competitive in a very, very physical matchup.
Muniga and Andrew Dollar handled the shutout, keeping the Dragons off the scoreboard.
